Join Little Free Library as we connect with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of a Beloved Community. MLK Day is a federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service. It is an opportunity to act on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice and equity while engaging with your community to create constructive action.
Little Free Library is dedicated to furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion as we build community, inspire readers, and expand book access. We invite you to join us in honoring Dr. King’s legacy by choosing activities from a list of suggestions that we will send to everyone who signs up.
We'll provide a menu of choices for learning by reading, watching, or listening to resources about Dr. King. Then, we'll suggest actions you can do in your community on MLK Day.
How to Participate:
- Sign up online in our volunteer hub. We will email you our resource list with suggestions for how to participate.
- Set aside time on Monday, January 20 to learn and take action.
- Our recommended resources are available online or at many public libraries.
- Our suggested actions can happen anywhere where there are Little Free Library book-sharing boxes in the US. Find a location near you using our map or free mobile app.
- Submit an impact form after MLK Day telling us about what you learned, and you will have a chance to win a bundle of free books selected from our recommended reading list.
