The Director of Development & Events is a board member who works with the board and the Executive Director to facilitate fundraising and recruit community members to serve on the Development Committee, which they chair. Their primary responsibility is to facilitate at least two fundraising events per year. They assist other board members in assigned fundraising tasks. They may be required to do direct donor solicitations, write appeal letters, conduct donor follow-up calls, or collaborate on grant applications. They will solicit businesses sponsorships. They use social media and other avenues to promote any organizational events and actively engage their contacts to attend.
You do not need experience to do well in this role, but you do need a desire to learn about nonprofit development and a willingness to tackle a challenge. This is a great opportunity for anyone that is interested in going into fundraising professionally.
