Critically-acclaimed Canadian cultural activist and author Stephen Jenkinson returns to San Luis Obispo to share his upcoming book, Come of Age: The Case for Elderhood in a Time of Trouble. In his signature provocative style, he makes the case that we must birth a new generation of elders, one poised and willing to be true stewards of the planet and its species.
With Master’s degrees from Harvard University (Theology) and the University of Toronto (Social Work), Jenkinson teaches internationally and is the creator and principal instructor of the Orphan Wisdom, founded in 2010. He has written several books, including the award-winning Die Wise: A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul (2015). He is also the subject of feature length documentary film Griefwalker (2008), which paints a lyrical portrait of his work with dying people.
Through his teachings and writings, he is revolutionizing grief and dying in North America. Jenkinson is redefining what it means to live, and die well.
