Description

Poppies on Ranch-MarlinHarms

Get ready for another volunteer day coming up Saturday, August 19th from 9-11.  We’re going to be collecting native seed along the bluff that we can use to replant areas where we have removed invasive iceplant.  There should be some seaside golden yarrow, seaside daisy, coastal buckwheat and gum plant ready for the picking.

If you’ve shied away from participating before because it’s more physical exertion than you’re up for, this workday is for you!  Collecting seed is a leisurely activity. It entails strolling along the bluff, stopping to look at plants to see if their seed is ready, and plucking the seed heads into a paper bag if they are.  Instead of marveling at colorful blooms, you’ll be amazed by how many different shapes and sizes seed comes in.  It’s a job for young, old and in-between.

We’ll start at 9am at the North Windsor entrance.   I’ll have necessary supplies and refreshments, so all you need to bring is you!  Feel free to call or email me if you have questions or need direcctions
