The Wilshire Hospice Día de los Muertos celebration comes from a Latin American tradition that honors the dead and comforts the living. This is the third year that the organization, in collaboration with others in the community, brings this festive celebration to Mission Plaza in the heart of San Luis Obispo. On November 5th, we invite all interested to welcome back the spirit of loved ones between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm starting with a procession and continuing with Mariachi and other music, traditional dancing, arts, crafts, poetry, face painting, and a costume contest. Vendors will offer traditional foods and beverages, arts and crafts. Come join the festivities and add to the altars honoring our community's beloved family members and friends!
This year we are also adding processions on the traditional celebration day. At 6 p.m. on November 2nd we'll have processions starting in Paso Robles City Park, in the SLO Mission courtyard, and at the gazebo in the Village of Arroyo Grande (off the parking lot in old town). Please join us to honor loved ones.
