Who We Are
Formerly Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, Wilshire Hospice has been serving the community since 1998. Our team of highly skilled professionals: physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, health aides and volunteers, are here to provide care along with comfort, dignity and choice for every patient, every time regardless of their race, age, faith, diagnosis or ability to pay. Services are available for patients in their family residence, assisted living facility, skilled nursing facility or hospital.
What We Do
The vision of Wilshire Hospice is to provide patients and their families with comprehensive, compassionate care that relieves undue suffering and pain from the moment of their diagnosis. We believe everyone has the right to die pain-free and with dignity.
Care continues for family members and friends at our Center for Grief Education and Healing. Our licensed and/or certified grief counselors provide individual, family, and group counseling to community members as well as to those left behind when one of our patients dies. We recognize that death doesn't end the relationship and that support provide early helps keep those who are mourning from greater feelings of loss.
Volunteers are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team. They may provide:
- Companionship
- Caregiver respite
- Help with paperwork, bill paying, etc.
- Light housekeeping
- Playing games
- Small household jobs
- Pet care
Other volunteer work depends on the department involved and the interests of the volunteer with many opportunities that don't include patient contact.
