Who We Are
Los Padres Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Serving communities across California’s Central Coast, the Council’s primary program is Scouting, which delivers character development, leadership training, and outdoor adventure to youth of all backgrounds.
In support of this mission, Los Padres Council also operates The Outdoor School at Camp Rancho Alegre as a key program service. The Outdoor School provides hands-on, science-based outdoor education to thousands of students each year—many from underserved communities—expanding access to nature, reinforcing classroom learning, and building confidence and teamwork. Together, these programs position Los Padres Council as a leading provider of youth development and outdoor education in the region.
