AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer Mission:

The mission of the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade is to raise funds and awareness for advancing access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved. From its launch in 1992, the multi-faceted initiatives of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade have raised and awarded more than $815 million to the breast cancer cause worldwide. Funding is awarded to five areas: breast cancer education and awareness, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services and scientific research. Avon now supports programs for breast cancer in some 60 countries around the world.

Knowing that breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, the goal of the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade is to benefit all women. However, there is special emphasis on reaching medically underserved women, including low-income, elderly and minority women, and women without adequate health insurance. Reversing historical disparities in breast cancer care is a priority of the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer is looking for volunteers to help staff our event this year. We'll be having the walk and looking for Volunteers from Friday, September 9th - Sunday, September 11th.

On Friday, September 9th we need volunteers to help run Check-In Friday where participants come to pick up their check-in materials, hand in donations and kick off the weekend. Projects include: computer work, greeting, handing out fundraising rewards and many more!

On Saturday, September 10th we will need help both at our Opening Ceremony and in our Basecamp 39 (oernight camp area) getting set up and welcoming the walkers! Projects include: helping with gear and tents, set up, clean up, and hospitality.

On Sunday, September 11th we need people to help at Basecamp 39 seeing the walkers off and getting cleaned up as well as at the Closing Ceremony where we’ll celebrate the participant’s accomplishments and give the donations to the beneficiaries!
