

Who We Are
The Chapman Estate Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to preserve, maintain and operate the Chapman Estate, its beautiful gardens, blufftop coastal views, historic Tudor home, and the art, furnishings and collectibles inside, carrying out the intentions of benefactor Clifford Chapman, maintaining the property for public access and community use, continuing his traditions of art, music, cultural events, and his beautiful blooming begonias. The foundation includes and seeks additional volunteers for a gardening group, docents, staffing events and Open Gates dates, maintenance team, our Board of Directors, and a Professional Advisory Board of specialists willing to donate a pre-agreed upon amount of time for consultations and support in specialty areas such as accounting, legal consults, construction, insurance, planning and permitting, fundraising and grant writing, research/curating and investigations of historical designations, event planning and promotions, social media and website management, and other areas of professional expertise. We welcome community involvement and support!
What We Do
The Chapman Estate is a beautiful property on the bluffs of Shell Beach, a property bequeathed to the community by Clifford Chapman who loved art, music and culture, gardens, begonias, his koi pond, and sharing his Estate for philanthropic purposes with the community. He hosted charitable events for the SLo Opera, symphony, and the CAPSLO Epicurean Delights event for many years. The Chapman Estate Foundation seeks to carry on his intentions of maintaining the property for public access and community use, continuing his traditions of art, music, cultural events, preserving the coastal panoramic views and historic structures, and his beautiful blooming begonias For community enjoyment.
