Who We Are

At Camp Fire, we implement what we call “THRIVEOLOGY”, which includes: SELF-DISCOVERY All young people find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are. See our research-based program framework that we call “The Camp Fire Journey”, founded on the pillars of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). COMMUNITY CONNECTION All young people find, build, and contribute to their community; they develop meaningful relationships with supportive adults and peers; they feel seen, heard, accepted, supported, and affirmed for who they are today, and who they will be in the future. ENGAGEMENT WITH NATURE All young people experience the power and awe of the outdoors; they learn to respect, love, and care for our world.

What We Do

Camp Fire Central Coast offers programs through after-school clubs, family camp, summer day camps, community service, hikes, and youth and teen leadership. Our council serves over 700 children and teens across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Camp Fire Central Coast has served youth and families in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties for over 90 years. The central coast chapter of Camp Fire began in 1923 in the City of San Luis Obispo, and expanded operations to include youth and service throughout San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties. Camp Fire Central Coast is currently run by all volunteers, with one part time staffer and governing board that supervises all operations of the Council. There are 29 volunteer club leaders, 40+ summer volunteers, along with parents and additional volunteers helping with fundraisers including candy sales, enchilada sales, fireworks booth sales, our annual Hollyberry event, and more.
