ECHO Shelter Atascadero is currently in need of Overnight Chaperone Volunteers. Available shift dates will vary. 

Overnight chaperoning can quickly satisfy court-mandated community service hours- ECHO is a non-profit 501(c).

Position Description: Volunteers are needed each night from 6:00pm-7:00am the following day (13 hours) to supervise the facility and work in a supportive role with shelter residents. Chaperone duties include: Serving dinner, leading children's' activities, checking clients in for the evening, and offering general support/assistance as needed. Chaperones take turns sleeping in shifts, with one chaperone awake at all times. Start/end time can be flexible. Volunteers can start as late as 9:00pm and leave as early as 5:00am if needed (time adjustments must be discussed in advance). Must enjoy working in a supportive role with others. 

Training: Volunteers will undergo orientation/training during their first shift

ECHO (El Camino Homeless Organization) provides shelter for some of the men, women, and children who are homeless in SLO County 365 nights a year. Please consider helping ECHO as we continue to provide services to those in our county who need it the most! 

ECHO is currently in need of Shower Monitor Volunteers on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:15pm-5:15pm.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

Monday - Friday, ECHO Shelter opens its showers to non-residents. Two Shower Monitors are needed at all times to ensure the line is moving at a reasonable pace and to assist shower guests with any items they may need.  This position is best for outgoing people who enjoy socializing with other volunteers and clients. 

Training Description : Volunteers will have orientation and training during their first shift

Volunteer Requirements : Must enjoy working with others in a supportive role.

ECHO Shelter Atascadero is currently looking for volunteers to help with our Meal Server position. Shift time runs from 4:45pm-6:15pm. Available shift dates will vary. 

Position Description: The meal server position entails serving meals during our community dinner program (about 60-80 meals). This position is best suited for people who enjoy working with others in a supportive role. Training for this position will be provided during the volunteer's first few shifts.

ECHO Shelter Atascadero is currently looking for volunteers to help with the Registration from 4:45pm - 6:15pm. Available shifts dates will vary.

Position Description: The Registration volunteer welcomes clients to dinner and signs them in for their nightly meal. The volunteer also helps with shelter applications, and answers basic shelter/program questions.

This position is best suited for people who enjoy working with others in a supportive role. Training for this position will be provided during the volunteer's first few shifts.

ECHO needs support from groups or individuals to help support our nightly dinner program. The dinner program works by volunteer groups purchasing and preparing homemade meals to be served each night at the shelter. The meals are prepared by the meal providers and brought to ECHO ready to serve(You may be able to use our kitchen to prepare your meal if discussed in advance). We do have an oven and stove top available to keep food warm.

Meal providers should arrive at ECHO at 4:00pm to set-up. We ask that you bring 80-100 servings of ready to serve entrée, salad & dressing, a vegetable and dessert (cookies are ideal).
