Volunteer: Clerical/Office Support

The Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum is lin need of volunteers to do a variety of clerical tasks including passing out informational fliers and sharing about the museum at local outreach events.

Outreach Volunteers would need their own transportation to attend local events on weekends, per an on-call schedule as they are available.

When the volunteer can attend, they would help setup the museum outreach table, visit with and pass out info fliers to attendees.

Training will be provided to learn about the museum and how to promote the museum when passing out info fliers at the outreach table.

Volunteers are vital to our nonprofit, all-volunteer organization and we are looking for a few individuals who would like to join our team!

for the security of Museum displays and daily activities.


Duties: to direct the creation of displays, both permanent and rotating; to open and close
the Museum; to supervise overall maintenance and cleaning of Museum display areas. To
plan and coordinate new and changing displays. To purchase materials and artifacts as
needed and approved. To coordinate the use of donated items. to work with the president
and board of directors concerning the development and management of museum displays.
to work with and supervise the museum archivist, assistant archivist, assistant curators(s),
clerks, gift shop coordinator, and docents.


Qualifications:

This is an ongoing opportunity.  It is not a one time job  

Must be a veteran and have museum management experience.

Duties: to meet visitors with a smile and a “Welcome to our Museum” greeting; to accompany individuals and groups on tours through the Museum, interpreting each display
and explaining the artifacts; to be flexible enough to adapt the tour to the visitor’s needs or interests; to accept artifact donations by completing the donation form, ensuring it is signed
by both the donor and the docent, and to make a photocopy for the donor; to maintain security of the Armory by always accompanying the visitors on tours of the Armory; to be a
lifelong learner; to consult with the Docent Coordinator or Museum Curator as needed; to be on time for duty.
