Description

The Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol was established to assist the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in meeting its law enforcement mission. Citizen volunteers trained in a variety of law enforcement topics, such as observation skills, radio procedures and first-aid provide supplemental patrol in our neighborhoods and business districts. These volunteers act as additional sets of "eyes and ears" in an effort to identify crime problems in our community as well as increase public safety.

Aside from patrolling the streets, auxiliary patrol members attend neighborhood watch meetings, perform vacation house checks and assist in educating the public in crime prevention. The Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteer Patrol is a partnership between law enforcement and the public and serves to increase the impact that the Sheriff's Office has in preserving our high quality of life in San Luis Obispo County.
