Adopt-a-Park Program kicks-off this summer
The City of San Luis Obispo’s newly formed Volunteer Program is excited to launch a pilot Adopt-a-Park project to span the summer months of July and August 2023 and we are looking for a dedicated core group of volunteers to participate and provide feedback to inform the next phases and formal launch in the fall!
The AAP program is intended to enhance the City’s ability to maintain safe, clean, and enjoyable park experiences for all visitors through engaging volunteers in meaningful, inclusive, and mutually beneficial ways to boost community vitality and foster a sense of collective ownership over our shared places and spaces within the 137+ acres of parks within City limits.
Volunteers & Volunteer Group Leader Wanted
We are looking to recruit Volunteer Group Leaders for Mission Plaza to assist in park beautification and in liaising and organizing volunteers.
If you have interest in this leadership role, please reach out at volunteer@slocity.org
Volunteers who commit to helping at Mission Plaza will be asked to serve on scheduled service dates to be communicated once confirmed. The Mitchell Park pilot site will offer a fluid and flexible service opportunity for volunteers to commit 4-6 hours/month over July and August.
Additional Information:
- All participants will need to register as City Volunteers.
- All resources will be provided by the City – gloves, litter-pickers, buckets, etc. in a Volunteer Kit available for pick up at Parks and Recreation during normal business hours.”
