Clean That Creek: Restoring the Bob Jones Bike Trail, A Watershed Awareness Project, organized by Andrea Biniskiewicz.

Join the Watershed Stewards Program in restoring a section of the Bob Jones Bike Trail! We will be planting trees, mulching, removing trash, and replacing drip line irrigation!

Who: Volunteers of all ages are welcome! If you are under 18, please have this waiver signed prior to the event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times at this event. The project site is handicap accessible. This is a rain or shine event!

What: Volunteers will help to remove invasive species, plant trees, mulch, remove trash, and replace drip line irrigation along a section of the Bob Jones trail near the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is to help create a better habitat for Steelhead Trout in San Luis Obispo Creek. We will also include an educational component, in which WSP Members will discuss stream health and the benefits of habitat restoration. 

Where: Meet at the Water Treatment Plant on Prado Rd. WSP Team Leader and Organizer of this event, Andrea, will lead the group of volunteers via caravan and carpooling. Please do your best to arrive early, or on time (10am) in order to be included in the caravan.

Directions:

  • From 101S: Exit on Prado Rd, Continue straight onto Prado Rd. Take a right on the road immediately after Corporation Yard's parking lot (200 feet from the exit)
  • From 101N: Exit Madonna Road and turn right onto Madonna Road. Turn right on Higuera St. Turn right on Elks Ln. Turn Left on Prado Rd. Turn right on the road immediately after Corporation Yard parking lot (about 150 feet) 

Parking: Park at the Water Treatment Plant 

Please bring:

  • Water bottle (water, refreshments, and snacks will be provided)
  • Proper outdoor work attire (hat, close-toe shoes, layers) 
  • Signed waiver if you are under 18 
  • Gloves if you have any (We will provide tools and gloves)

 

A safety training and debrief of work to be done will be given once everyone has arrived to the project site.
