Growing Grounds Farm is a 7-acre wholesale farm and nursery providing horticultural therapy, vocational rehabilitation, and socialization opportunities for adults with severe mental illness.
"Nurturing plants and people"
Growing Grounds Farm relies on the efforts of a broad spectrum of community volunteers for the completion of large projects and ongoing maintenance. There are many ways to volunteer at Growing Grounds Farm from one time spur of the moment efforts to ongoing long-term volunteering!
The nursery is located at 3740 Orcutt Road in San Luis Obispo and we welcome volunteers on a drop in basis Tuesday through Friday between 10 AM and 1 PM. For volunteering during this time frame, all you need do is show up prepared to work (long pants, closed-toed shoes, face mask) and sign an Oath of Confidentiality as you will be working alongside TMHA clients. We also recommend you bring water and sunscreen as needed.
If your schedule doesn't allow for volunteering during these regular hours, please let me know and we can work together to arrange something that fits your availability and volunteering goals.
If you are interested in volunteering (as an individual or as a group), please contact Growing Grounds at (805)-543-6071
