ECHO Shelter Atascadero is currently in need of Overnight Chaperone Volunteers. Available shift dates will vary.
Overnight chaperoning can quickly satisfy court-mandated community service hours- ECHO is a non-profit 501(c).
Position Description: Volunteers are needed each night from 6:00pm-7:00am the following day (13 hours) to supervise the facility and work in a supportive role with shelter residents. Chaperone duties include: Serving dinner, leading children's' activities, checking clients in for the evening, and offering general support/assistance as needed. Chaperones take turns sleeping in shifts, with one chaperone awake at all times. Start/end time can be flexible. Volunteers can start as late as 9:00pm and leave as early as 5:00am if needed (time adjustments must be discussed in advance). Must enjoy working in a supportive role with others.
Training: Volunteers will undergo orientation/training during their first shift

ECHO (El Camino Homeless Organization) provides shelter for some of the men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in SLO County, 365 nights a year. Please consider volunteering at ECHO Shelter Atascadero as we continue to provide supportive services to those in our county who need it the most!
