Volunteer: ReceptionWe ask that our volunteers be fully vaccinated. The wearing of masks is voluntary. The volunteers who work in the reception area greet clients at the door. Because of COVID precautions and our desire to protect both our clients and our volunteers the clients remain at the open door while volunteers get the needed information from them and check them in. There are two people working in this area, one at the desk (filing out required paperwork) and one using the computer to make sure information is current. We need help in both positions! Volunteer: Morning Volunteer OpportunitiesThere are many opportunities if you would like to volunteer in the morning. We need volunteers to work in the pantry receiving and sorting commercial donations and deliveries from the SLO Food Bank. These volunteers also pre-fill boxes of food that will be given to clients in the afternoon. We need volunteers to pick up food from groceries in the No County, and food from the SLO Food Pantry. There are some pick ups where you can use your own car. We also have a van for larger orders and to pick up food from the Food Bank. Because of COVID we have modified our procedures in order to protect our volunteers and our clients. Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated. The wearing of masks is now voluntary. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment to work on the same day every week. Some volunteers work 4 weeks a month, some less often. We also have need for people who can serve as 'back-up' when another volunteer is unable to work. This position will require that you are able to lift items of at least 20 lbs.
