AmpSurf is looking for Water Helpers during our Learn to Surf clinic on June 26th at Pismo Beach!
The event will be held on the south side of the Pismo Beach Pier at the Addie St. Parking Lot.
As a Water Helper, you will be paired with an Instructor to assist participants learning to surf. This includes following any directions from the Instructor, assisting persons with disabilities after riding a wave and monitoring participants in the water for safety.
All volunteers will be given training on what your role will be the day of the event to ensure everyone is squared away. The goal is make the event the as safe and fun possible for our participants.
All volunteers will be given a white rash guard to mark them as volunteers so participants can easily see them in the water. AmpSurf does have wet-suits but you are welcome to bring your own and any other water wear for the ocean. Sunblock is also recommended.
The schedule for volunteers is similar to the clinic schedule below. If you would like to assist with the Setup, please be at the Addie Street Parking Lot at 7:00am.
The volunteer shift for this event is 7:30am - 1:00pm.
The volunteer briefing/training is at 7:45am and all volunteers are required to be there by this time.

Clinic schedule:
7:00 a.m. – Setup crew arrives
7:30 a.m. – All other volunteers arrive
7:45 a.m. – Volunteers briefing (all water staff must be present)
8:00 a.m. – Participants arrive – Meet, greet and suit up
8:30-9:00 a.m. – Dry land instruction
9:00-11:30 a.m. – In-water surf instruction
11:30-12:00 p.m. – Free surf
12:00-1:00 p.m. -Lunch and tear down
This event is fun and super rewarding. There is nothing like seeing someone catch their first wave and we invite everyone to volunteer for this amazing opportunity.
