The California Conservation Corps (CCC) is an amazing program. Young adults that join the CCC aid in restoring California's environment and responding to natural disasters such as fires and floods. In return they are provided with assistance in obtaining a GED, a chance to practice taking leadership positions, and various types of training such as chainsaw use. As a residential site, CCC Los Padres provides affordable food and housing for corpsmembers.
During the event we will take the first steps towards preparing a food garden, which would provide CCC members with fresh fruits and vegetables. The type of work is subject to change but would most likley include installing a fence, turning soil, setting up seed flats, and vertical planting. It's a good chance to learn gardening skills that you can take back to your own home!
