Who We Are
GRID Alternatives is the nation's largest non-profit solar installer. We are an organization that brings together community partners, volunteers and job trainees to implement solar power and energy efficiency for low-income families, providing energy cost savings, valuable hands-on experience, and a source of clean, local energy that benefits us all.
GRID Alternatives vision is a transition to clean, renewable energy that includes everyone. Our mission is to make renewable energy technology and training available to underserved communities.
What We Do
GRID Alternatives installs solar systems for qualifying low-income homeowners throughout the central coast region.
Through a “barn raising” model, we install solar exclusively for low-income families, while providing workers with hands-on training to build the skills and experience they need to secure jobs in the rapidly growing solar industry.
We are looking for individual community volunteers, as well as volunteer groups, to come help install on ow-income homes - no experience required. We install 2-3 solar systems per week on homes in Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Paso Robles, King City, Greenfield, Soledad and Salinas.
To view the install schedule or for more information on how to get involved, please contact Tori at tdegen@gridalternatives.org or 805-626-3194.
We hope to see you on the roof in 2016!
