Who We Are

The Library Volunteer Program was established in 1995 when library service moved from the Carnegie Library building to the new City Hall building. Starting with only a handful of volunteers, the program has grown to be one of California’s most innovative models of volunteerism in library service.

Today, the Volunteer Program is essential to the daily operation of the Paso Robles City Library with over 100 trained volunteers contributing over 15,000 hours of their time and talents each year.

But by far the greatest contribution Library volunteers make is their wealth of experience and expertise. They bring professionalism and energy to public service in a way few other libraries are fortunate to enjoy.

What We Do

The mission of the Paso Robles City Library Volunteers is to support Library Staff in its ongoing commitment to excellence. To that end, library volunteers assist in many facets of library service: at the circulation, reference, and children's desks; shelving; processing new materials, mending items in need of repair; sorting donations; working the Friends of the Library gift store; and numerous other special projects.
