Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. In 1997, the San Luis Obispo County affiliate was founded based on this mission. Today, we remain dedicated to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

What We Do

Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County is a nonprofit focusing on building communities and hope through home ownership, home rehabilitation, home preservation, and neighborhood revitalization. We have two ReStores (like thrift stores for building materials and large home decor/furniture) that are staffed by volunteers.

We run a homeownership and building program where qualified applicants commit sweat equity to the construction of a new, affordable home in their community. Our primary role in SLO County consists of assisting low-income homeowners with repairs, minor improvements (especially for aging in place & energy efficiency) and preservation of affordable homes.
