San Luis Obispo Beaver Brigade

The SLO Beaver Brigade, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is dedicated to creating the conditions for beavers to thrive. We were founded in February of 2020 after a conversation among friends about what we each could do to contribute to climate regeneration. Supporting the beavers in our county was our answer to that question. By protecting beaver habitat, educating our residents and visitors of the benefits of beavers and coexistence tools, supporting research of beavers and wetlands, and more, SLO Beaver Brigade is working as an ally and advocate for beavers in the Central Coast and throughout California.

We work to educate folks in San Luis Obispo County around beavers and the work they do to replenish our groundwater, provide fire refugia, and increase the quality and quantity of water in our creeks and rivers.
