Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum

CCVMM is a history museum located in San Luis Obispo, serving the entire Central Coast of California, preserving historical artifacts & stories of local veterans and hosting educational tours and programs. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

In 2002 a group of local veterans formed the Central Coast Veterans Museum Founding Committee. The committee’s task was to develop the guiding principles for the Museum and to articulate a vision for what the Museum would look like and how it would operate. The Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum (CCVMM) was incorporated by the State of California as a Section 501(c)3 non-profit organization. CCVMM is housed in the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building through the generosity of the County of San Luis Obispo. Since CCVMM opened in 2002, our collection of artifacts, documents, pictures, firearms, and uniforms has continually grown thanks to the donations of people from communities on the Central Coast and throughout the United States.

As a result, the number and thoroughness of the displays have grown. Museum volunteers have donated their time and effort to make it possible for us to share their knowledge with our visitors and to become increasingly involved in community events.

The Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum features an interesting and informative collection of authentic historical military exhibits that include artifacts, documents, pictures, firearms, and uniforms. We seek to honor our military veterans, preserve the memory of those who have served and educate all people about the ways in which veterans have protected and defended the United States Constitution.

We are open to the public. and also offer private docent-guided tours for organizations and school groups. We partner with other agencies to host informational and educational events and exhibits in San Luis Obispo County. We offer internships and volunteer opportunities for university students.
